The Gypsum Hills (also known as the Gyp Hills, Red Hills & Medicine Hills) are a region of rolling hills, mesas, canyons and buttes in central Kansas, just north of the Oklahoma border. The course will provide racers with flat sand-packed roads, red dirt hills, and winding gravel roads on one of the most diverse courses in the state. The Gyp Hills are one of the "8 Wonders of Kansas Geography." The hike takes place on the Kirkbrides' family ranch, located southwest of Medicine Lodge. The hike lasts about four or five hours and covers between five and eight miles. The level of difficulty is moderate.
