Key needs to remain in the lock. Try this a few times, it should release. It may also release easier if your car is unlocked... the doors that is.

C230 remote key issues. My remote keys only lock/unlock when I hold them up to the door handle. They seem to work somewhat better on the pass side, but cant be more that 5ft from the car. Both remotes do the same thing and they batteries are not old. I suspect the antenna for the remotes but dont know where it is.
